Town Meetings 2017: Tapping Into Technology (Coralville Public Library)
The focus of Town Meetings 2017 is technology. For decades various technologies have played vital roles in library service, and with each passing year technology touches more and more of our work. Join State Library staff to discuss new technology tools that help provide important services to our communities; learn about the impact of technology on information consumption and interpretation; and discover how to use technology to evaluate library programs and services. In addition to our traditional afternoon concurrent sessions, this year will include morning concurrent sessions.
The day will begin with an update on state initiatives from your State Librarian, Michael Scott. Morning concurrent sessions will focus on new technology from the State Library (We've Been Busy, How About You?: New Tech Tools from the State Library), and how to maximize readers' advisory and collection development using Books and Authors (Books and Authors: Helping Your Patrons Find Their Next Great Read).
Afternoon concurrent sessions include how to navigate the information landscape and help your patrons avoid falling into the "fake news" trap (Combat Fake News With Trusted Sources), and how to use resources from the Public Library Association's Project Outcome to evaluate your library programs and services (A Closer Look at Project Outcome).
