ILOC 2020: Getting Ahead of the Game: Winning with Project Management (Webinar)

Begins 01/16/2020
Available capacity: 439

Want to learn about innovative approaches to project management, but you think it is just about overseeing big projects like an author event or a new building?  We encourage you to think past that and learn about managing those mundane tasks, staying organized and prioritizing your growing to-do list.

ILOC offers keynote speakers, sessions on a variety of topics, and an evening session designed for trustees. Come and go throughout the day, attending the sessions you’re most interested in. A main goal of ILOC is to replicate the "in-person" conference experience but as a free option with no travel.

Presentations throughout the day will showcase the ways Iowa librarians stay on top of projects, using a variety of tools, technology and tracking tips.

Our anticipated morning keynote speaker is Elizabeth Harrin, an author and mentor who helps project managers and their teams get more done with less stress. She does that through straight-talking, real-world advice, based on her 20 years in project management roles.

Elizabeth has written five books about project management and is currently working on a new book on stakeholder engagement which will be out in 2020.

She also writes the award-winning blog, A Girl’s Guide to Project Management

In her keynoteHow to be Awesome at Getting Things DoneElizabeth will help you understand what a project is and how to balance the competing demands of time, cost and doing a good job in getting your work successfully over the finish line. We’ll look at ways to stay organized and how to prioritize your growing To Do list.

The evening keynote session for trustees will be presented by Gail Santy, director of the Central Kansas Library System and the Great Bend Public Library.  Before moving into the director’s chair, Gail was a consultant to small and rural libraries for 10 years.  Gail excels at coming up with doable, affordable, practical ways to make ideas turn into reality.

Keep your eye on the conference website for more information as it is available.
